Molesey 0-1 Chipstead
Chip: Pitterson
36'
Molesey were once again left frustrated by a busy and hard working Chipstead team who were reduced to 10 and the 9 men without Molesey being ble to take advantage.
The game was the first for the restructured management team with Carl Taylor taking match day control for the first time. It was also debut for new striker Eric Kwakye who was handed a start.
The game started with Molesey in the ascendancy, firstly Kwakye shot narrowly wide and then had two headers miss the target when he should have done better.
Then the game really turned changed into the Moles favour with the sending off of Chipstead defender Andrew Wareing for an off the ball elbow on Julian Phillips. Molesey had 80 minutes ahead of them against a depleted Chipstead side.
Molesey nearly made this numerical superiority count immediately when Kwakye weaved his way through the remianing Chipstead defenders and shot. Unfotunately he only hit the side netting.
Then disaster for Molesey as somehow a cross delivered from the far wing was bundled in at the near post by Chips midfielder Craig Pitterson. Molesey found themselves behind after 36 minutes to a side that were already playing with a man down.
The second half started with the game being stretched by the Moles trying to wear down the opposition, however in their haste the ball was given away far too often leading to counter-attacks from Cipstead making them as dangerous as ever.
Molesey were handed another huge boost after 68 minutes when Chipstead had another player sent off. Ashley Reid went in late on Julian Phillips which earned him his second yellow card and an early shower.
Molesey made their three subs bringing on Anthony Gale, Matt Fowler and Chico Kadzombe, but still the Chipstead defence held out.
The Moles only real efforts on goal for the whole game happened deep into stoppage time. First a sharp turn and shot by Fowler which went straight to the Chipatead 'keeper who blocked the effort but unfortunately no Molesey player was on hand for the rebound and secondly, after good build upon the left flank resulted in Beswick hitting a great long range effort from 25 yards which Parkinson again tipped back into the box but unfortunately again no one could force the ball over the line.
There was still time however for Julian Phillips to end the game with a red card after a second booking.
In the end, Molesey just didn't have enough to overcome a well organised Chipstead team that only had 9 men for 20 minutes and 10 men for a whole 80 minutes.
