With Manager Steve Webb currently on vacation, Assistant Manager Peter Lelliott with Alan Maynard and Jack Ortez took over the reins in his absence.
Last nights friendly match against Dorking was our finest performance during pre-season and now look forward to a sterner test against Burnham this Saturday at home.
The first half was very encouraging with fine performances throughout where the defence held firm and looked very solid.
Nick Newitt made his debut with a fine performance and did not look out of place coming in from the reserves.
In midfield especially both Chris Wales and Stef O'Brien worked hard with Wales having a fine effort saved by the Dorking keeper.
Wales again had another shot which hit the Dorking keeper who new nothing about it and yet again it was Wales aho had a close range effort cleared from the Dorking goalline.
Up front, both the hard working Jason Haniff and James Mepham enjoyed alot of possession and it was the latter who scored our first with a headed goal after fine move down the right flank, endeding up with an excellent cross which was well executed to go 1-0 up.
This was the first goal Dorking had conceded throughout their pre-season campaign.
The second half was not so impressive but with 5 substitutes used, we seemed to lack the penetration of the first half and due to poor decision making and passing, allowed Dorking back into the game
however, with 20 minutes to go, fine work by Ben Jacob saw him fire in a fine cross which was partially cleared to the edge of the box where Stef O'Brien fired home to make it to 2-0
The young Moles suffered a few scares towards the end but held on safely for a fine win.
