Molesey entertained league leaders Tooting & Mitcham this past Saturday looking to extend their unbeaten run to 5 games and continue a revival from the start of the season which has seen them climb out of the relegation zone. Tooting arrived looking to extend their lead at the head of the table.

Tooting started the better of the two sides and were dominating the early exchanges. The first 24 minutes were spent in Moleseys half, Ashwood was forced into two good 1-on-1 from the feet of, first Paul Vines and then John Henry-Haden. Henry-Haden then lobbed an on-rushing Ashwood but the ball bounced wide.

Then Molesey took the lead with a goal that won't be replicated anywhere this season. Tooting 'keeper Dave King looked to throw the ball out after collecting it from an over-hit Anthony Gale free kick.

However the unfortunate 'keepers throw hit the referee and fell straight to Julian Phillips feet, Phillips turned and calmly slotted the ball past King. Leaving Tootings players to stare at disbelief at both the Goalkeeper and the referee.

However, The Moles happiness lasted only 1 minute as almost straight away Tooting hit a long free kick over the Molesey defence and John Henry-Haden expertly lobbed John Ashwood to level the scores.

The second half was kicked off by Molesey and they quickly tried to exert some pressure forcing a series of quick corners.

The second half was a very tense affair for both sides. There were few chances for either side.

Molesey found themselves with a chance to take an unlikely lead when Luke Edghill and Chico Kadzombe linked well, leading to the latter hitting the ball well over the bar.

There was only one real chance after this and it fell to Tootings Jamie Byatt, but his header was excellantly tipped out by the outstanding Jon Ashwood. Tooting then looked to exert some more pressure but were unable to test Ashwood again.
