Webb on management structure

By Steve Webb

"I thought that I would update everyone on some changes within the management structure at Molesey, these taking immediate effect.

You will all be aware that some time back I took up the opportunity of getting Carl Taylor on board to help us progress and there have been signs of improvement during that period, although we are still in an unsatisfactory position at present.

There have been obvious criticisms of the management from the outset, some valid and many totally unfounded. We have also had an unbelievable amount of players simply drift away and not stay to take up the challenge and we have changed personnel far too often for my liking.

Only recently we had two players decide to leave following our excellent win at Croydon and thus make themselves unavailable for the Boxing Day fixture at short notice, which is indicative of a lack of respect. However, I am not willing to give up the fight and intend to do whatever it takes to keep Molesey in the Rymans League for as long as the committee of the club want me to. Having said that, the performance on Saturday was unacceptable in many ways and made me re-assess the situation and I know that something needs to be done, and done quickly.

We need players here to step up to the plate and also fresh blood to rejuvenate the club, and Carl has the contacts to do this for us. I felt that if this is to happen he needs to be given the opportunity to follow this through and have decided to hand the match day responsibility to him, with me taking a "move upstairs" and oversee all aspects of the football at Molesey, whilst maintaining a presence on training and match days.

I will remain manager and have the same input, whilst Peter will continue to support both Carl and myself and have the same role as before. The hope is that we will come through this a much stronger and solid unit and I fully expect us to retain our status as a Rymans League side on merit. The main thing we need to remember is that the club is the important thing and there is no time for egos to get in the way, so I have no problem instigating this change.

Should we ultimately fail, the blame will lay firmly at my feet, but I am sure we will turn things round. I would ask that the people who follow Molesey will fully support us from now until the end of the season and keep a positive vibe going, even when games are not going our way. The whole management team are fully focused on getting things right, and have been all season, and I will defy anyone who questions the desire and determination within that team to work tirelessly to achieve the ultimate goal of safety.

So, get yourselves down to the club this Saturday and give the lads your support, then get down to Tolworth next Saturday and back down Tuesday week for Dover at home and show the faith. Come on you Moles!"
